Overview

Remote Conductor Trackpad (RC Trackpad) turns your iPad or iPhone/iPod Touch into a magical trackpad for your Mac or PC. RC Trackpad was carefully designed to leverage the power of the iOS platform to put the things you do most on your computer right at your finger tips. RC Trackpad was built around three common tasks: Track, Launch and Switch:

  1. •Use your iOS device as a wireless, multi-touch trackpad - with secure keyboard and media remote

  2. •Find and launch Mac or PC applications easily from your iPad or iPhone

  3. •See all the open windows on your computer and quickly switch between them

How It Works

RC Trackpad runs on your iPad or iPhone and communicates over Wi-Fi with a free server program called Conductor Server running on your Mac or PC. You may install the Conductor Server on as many computers as you like.

RC Trackpad was built from the ground up to be secure, all network traffic is encrypted over SSL with industry leading technology.

RC Trackpads's powerful, yet easy to use interface works in any orientation. Switching modes is as easy as tapping an icon or performing a gesture.

In Track mode your iOS Device becomes a powerful multi-touch trackpad.

The trackpad supports most modern multi-touch gestures including most Lion style gestures. as well as some that are unique to RC Trackpad. Here is an example of the most commonly used gestures:

  1. • To move the mouse, drag one finger

  2. • To left click on item, single tap on the screen

  3. • To right click, tap with two fingers

  4. • To scroll, drag two fingers (includes momentum support)

  5. • To drag (moving a window for example), tap, tap & drag

  6. • To zoom out / in, pinch / spread with two fingers

RC Trackpad has a powerful gesture configuration system with over 20 gestures that can be mapped to any of over 20 actions. Actions include performing common tasks such as bringing up Mission Control, Launchpad, Expose, Spaces or the Dashboard on Mac, and Flip 3D, Gadgets, Desktop and the Start Menu on PC.

In Launch mode you use your iPad or iPhone to start applications on your Mac or PC.

Your computer’s applications and utilities are organized as pages of icons. If you know how to launch apps on your iOS device you already know how to use Launch Mode.

Applications that are pinned to your Mac's dock or PC’s Taskbar are presented as a scrollable row at the bottom of the view so your favorite apps are always just a tap away.

RC Trackpad automatically finds all the programs in your Mac’s Applications, Utilities and Developer folders or PC’s start menu groups, but you can add custom locations if you like.

In Switch mode your iOS device becomes a powerful application and window switcher. RC Trackpad is the only iOS app to support individual window switching on a Mac!

All your Mac or PC’s open windows are displayed as thumbnails in a unique grid organized by application.

Running applications are laid out horizontally with the most recently used on the left. Thumbnails of each application's open windows are arranged vertically with the most recently used in the center of the screen.

You can scroll through these windows and switch to any one by simply tapping on the thumbnail.  Tapping on an application icon will raise all of its windows.

You can control remote apps and windows with tap and hold menus: Quit app, hide, close window, minimize and zoom (maximize / restore).

Secure Extended Keyboard

RC Trackpad is the only trackpad app to support a fully encrypted keyboard! Passwords and personal information stay secure!

The secure keyboard contains an innovative ‘scrollable’ row of extended keys. There are six sets of useful keys and shortcuts for a total of 72 keys on iPad, 66 keys on iPhone. The extended row is available in portrait and landscape on iPad and landscape on iPhone.

The key groups are:

  1. • Command and navigation (Ctrl, Alt, Cmd/Win - cursor)

  2. • Numeric keys

  3. • Function keys

  4. • Editing keys

  5. • Media Control

  6. • Browser Control

Media Remote

Tap the ‘note’ icon while in Track mode and the media remote slides into place. The media remote is supported in portrait or landscape orientations and will control any music or video app that supports the standard keyboard media keys.

The media remote supports the following functions:

  1. • Play / Pause

  2. • Skip next / previous track

  3. • Fast forward / rewind - (Currently supported by most apps on Mac,  iTunes only on Windows.)

  4. • Mute and volume controls

Mouse Pads

RC Trackpad supports ‘mouse pads’ - background photos you can use with the trackpad, launcher and switcher. You can select from on of eight built-in images or choose your own from an album or camera roll on your iOS device.
