About Our Security
RC Trackpad uses MatrixSSLTM, a very high performance, small foot print, SSL implementation from PeerSec NetworksTM. This allows RC Trackpad to offer industrial strength encryption while providing smooth, lag-free performance.
Why Security Matters
Security facts about insecure 'mouse' apps:
•Anyone on your Wi-Fi network can monitor the keystrokes sent from most mouse apps using a simple packet scanner that comes included with every Mac, or can be easily installed on a Windows machine.
•Most mouse apps that claim to have 'password' protection on their connection, actually send this password over the network 'in the clear' allowing a packet scanner to easily read it.
•Most mouse apps use simple text based commands for launching programs, moving the mouse and sending keystrokes. This could potentially allow a hacker on your network to gain access to your machine without even needing a copy of the app.
•Using an insecure mouse app to log in to your computer or unlock the screen could expose your password to a hacker on your network.
RC Trackpad
RC Trackpad is the only fully secure trackpad / mouse app on the App Store!
RC Trackpad was built from the ground up to be secure, and uses an SSL connection with AES-256 encryption to communicate with your Mac or PC. This is the same type of SSL connection you use to access your bank account, or enter credit card orders over the internet. Using a fully encrypted SSL connection means that the keystrokes and commands sent by RC Trackpad cannot be read or modified by others on your network and that the server program cannot be used as an entry point for attack.
Any time you add an insecure 'server' type program to your computer you potentially open your computer to the threat of attack. This is especially true for a program that allows a mobile device to take over your mouse and keyboard such as remote 'mouse' type apps. With these apps a hacker on your network could also monitor everything you type including accounts and passwords. It is important that any app which communicates with and controls your computer be fully secure to protect you against spying and attack.
