RC Trackpad iPad 2.0.2  (Release Notes)    RC Trackpad iPhone 2.0.2  (Release Notes)

  1. A network connection might not work at some public hotspots:

  2. This is due to the location blocking non-HTTP network ports. In these situation you can create an adHoc connection or use Bluetooth between your Mac (OS X 10.6) and iPad / iPhone. (Refer to the Network Troubleshooting Guide or the Bluetooth Guide for information).

  3. Bluetooth only works with Snow Leopard - it does not work with Lion. (Lion is fully supported over Wi-Fi)

  4. Forward and backward navigation does not work in Firefox for some non-US keyboard layouts:

  5. Windows are missing thumbnails in Switcher mode:

  6. Some applications running in full screen mode have this problem, such as iPhoto 11 and Chrome, we are working to improve our screen capturing to better handle applications in this mode.

  7. Sometimes a regular application window does not display a thumbnail: discovering and screen capturing windows is an inexact process, and our algorithms can sometimes miss a window that should be displayed. We are working on improving our window capture algorithms to minimize this problem. Sometimes, restarting Conductor Server then reconnecting to Remote Conductor can fix this.

  8. If you discover specific application / window combinations that do not work for you, please email a description of how to reproduce the problem to our support email address (at the top of this page).

Troubleshooting

How will I know if RC Trackpad / App Conductor will work on my Network before I buy?

You can test your network using the following guide:

Remote Conductor Network Test

I keep getting asked to enter the random password each time I connect to my Mac

This is a rare keychain issue issue that we are still trying to track down. The solution is the quit Conductor Server and re-start it.  On Lion you may also be required to remove the pairing with the device by brining up the Conductor Server preferences, security tab, click on the device name and click ‘remove’. You will have to pair your device one more time, but then the problem should go away.

We would appreciate a quick email letting us know you had this problem so we can determine how wide spread it is.

How do I use the Direct Connection Feature?

You can display the direct connection box by first opening the Server Browser then tap the small arrow in the upper left hand corner. In the direction connection box type in the hostname or IP address of the Mac. Also make sure the port number matches the value set in Conductor Server. You can find the hostname, IP addresses and port in the Network Tab of the Conductor Server preferences dialog. Once a direct value is entered it will show up as blue in the Server Browser. Tap on the entry as normal to connect.

RC Trackpad / App Conductor can see but not connect to my Mac

RC Trackpad / App Conductor can’t find my Mac

Refer to the following troubleshooting guide for networking problems:

Remote Conductor Network Troubleshooting Guide

Individual windows will not raise on my Mac

See the section on enabling accessibility under Conductor Server Known Issues. Also note that Mac Conductor Server requires Mac OS X 10.6 or higher to properly access individual windows and handle Spaces.

After starting RC Trackpad, when I try to bring up the Launcher it just returns to Track mode

This is an indication that the iPad / iPhone does not have enough free memory. Launcher memory use was improved with Remote Conductor 1.1.4. If you see this behavior make sure you have upgraded to the latest version of the app AND the server, then perform the ‘Forget All Servers’ action from the settings menu to clear the icon cache. Re-connect and pair to the server. If this behavior still persists try  soft-resetting the iPad / iPhone.

After adding a custom directory it doesn’t show up properly in the Launcher

Currently you must quit and restart Conductor Server, then reconnect RC Trackpad for these changes to take effect.

The message “... not supported on this type of Mac” appears when trying to run Conductor Server

Mac Conductor Server 1.0 does not run on 32 bit Macs, please update to the latest version.

The download link to the Mac Server is not working

Your location may be blocking our file host. If the links on the download page do not work, contact tech support at the email at the top of this page and we will get you a copy right away.

I updated the OS on my iPad and now my 4 and 5 finger gestures won’t work with RC Trackpad

If you are running iOS 4.3 and you have enabled your iPad for development use, the iPad’s new ‘Multitasking Gestures’ are enabled by default. These multitasking gestures override 4 and 5 finger gesture support in applications. To restore this functionality you need to go to the iPad’s Settings... General... and turn off ‘Multitasking Gestures’.

Can I use Bluetooth to connect to my Mac?

As of iOS 4.3 Bluetooth connectivity is supported on Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard only. Bluetooth is NOT currently supported with Lion. (Lion IS fully supported over Wi-Fi). Follow the instructions outlined in the Bluetooth Connectivity guide:

Bluetooth Connectivity Guide

Lion 3 finger gestures are not working

If you are having problems with the Lion gestures or 3 finger gestures in general, please check to make sure that the accessibility ‘zoom’ feature is turned OFF on your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch. To find this go to settings, general, accessibility, zoom.

4 finger pinch is not bringing up the LaunchPad in Lion

RC Trackpad uses the currently set keyboard shortcut to bring up the LaunchPad. Please go to System Preferences... Keyboard... Keyboard Shortcuts and setup a keystroke for LaunchPad. Any unused keystroke will do. Then quit and restart Conductor Server.

I’m having trouble with 2 finger swipe with Mac

If you are using a non-english keyboard or language input source please enable ‘Use alternate back / forward' in the Conductor Server preferences.

I upgraded to Lion 10.7.2 and some of my dock icons are not showing up in the launch bar

Please upgrade Conductor Server to 1.1.14 or higher from the downloads page.

Windows Conductor Server 1.1.0  (Release Notes)

  1. The iTunes Fast Forward and Rewind keyboard shortcuts may conflict with Nvidia’s Control Panel shortcuts for changing the screen orientation. You may need to change the hotkeys in Nvidia’s setup.

  2. The Fast Forward and Rewind media player keys only work with iTunes at this time.

  3. XP does not support flip 3d, desktop app switcher, and side bar (gadget) gestures.

  4. On XP and Vista apps pinned to the top level start menu are not discovered.

  5. Changing application search paths or optional folder settings requires the server to be restarted

  6. On machines with UAC enabled, UAC pop up windows cannot be dismissed using Remote Conductor, a physical mouse and keyboard must be used. This is per Windows design.

  7. On machines with UAC enabled, Remote Conductor may not be able to interact with some applications running at elevated privilege. We will publish work-arounds for this.

  8. Some full screen games may leave a thumbnail window in the switcher on exit.
